How it works: Every guest gets a guided chance to throw a pot on the pottery wheel. (Throwing a pot is the term potters use when creating on the wheel). After the class, we will fire your pottery to (bisque fire). When you receive notification via text, pots will be unfinished white bisque pottery and you will then, at your earliest convenience, RSVP with The Pigeon & The Hen Pottery via “reservations to paint” from our menu.
All materials are non-toxic and the paint and clay wash out of clothes.
Basic Wheel Throwing Class: Learn the basics of the POTTERS WHEEL. Create beautiful ceramic bowls. Watch our Potterista's step-by-step instructions in our demonstration area. Appropriate for ages 13 and up. No experience is necessary! The demo is about 15 minutes, which means you really have to be on time. Due to limited space, this class is best suited for individuals and groups of up to 5. If you have a group of 6 or more please see above for our group rates and fill out the submission form.
Projects will be ready to pick up after drying and firing to bisque in a minimum of 4 weeks. This amazing wheel-throwing experience is only $60 per class/student.
Class size is very limited.
WHEEL CLASSES ARE A GREAT EXPERIENCE TOGETHER ALL YEAR LONG!
How it works: Groups of up to 6 potters spend 1.5 hours in our Throwing Studio creating up to 3 works of art each. Each class begins with a demo by the instructor, each pottery partier will be guided and coached along the way. All projects made on the potter’s wheel will be painted within the session. You may upgrade and have our Potteristas paint them for you or leave them white and have our Handwriting Artist add a handwritten name or word on each pot.
Projects will be cleaned, dried, fired twice, and TEXTED for pick up approximately 4 weeks later. One person from your group will be designated to pick up all projects at one time.
Knowledge required: Beginner-friendly!
What you'll get: Materials to work with, plus one fired piece that will be glazed for you.
What to bring: Wear clothes you don't mind getting messy and tie your hair back. We suggest trimming your nails before the session and removing jewelry from your hands and wrists.
Suitable for This class is great for individuals and couples as well as for a team-building activity, birthday, or bachelorette party.
Groups larger than 6 will require two or more hours in our wheel space with the addition of a creative hand-sculpted piece while partiers rotate turns on the wheel and the larger group may require a second instructor. Cost per extra potter beyond 6 is $50 per person.

Clay is naturally a little messy! We advise that you let each partier know to wear art-appropriate clothing and remove treasured jewelry, bracelets, etc. Your hands will be absolutely covered in clay for the duration of our session. The wheel-throwing studio is small- we do not allow celebratory food and drink set up (except personal water bottles and coffees.
